To this end, companies make use of platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram to reach audiences much wider than through the use of traditional print/TV/radio advertisements alone at a fraction of the cost, as most social networking sites can be used at little or no cost (however, some websites charge companies for premium services). Unplanned content is an 'in the moment' idea, "a spontaneous, tactical reaction." (Cramer, 2014, p. 6). The content could be trending and not have the time to take the planned content route. The unplanned content is posted sporadically and is not calendar/date/time arranged (Deshpande, 2014).[88][89] Issues with unplanned content revolve around legal issues and whether the message being sent out represents the business/brand accordingly. If a company sends out a Tweet or Facebook message too hurriedly, the company may unintentionally use insensitive language or messaging that could alienate some consumers. For example, celebrity chef Paula Deen was criticized after she made a social media post commenting about HIV-AIDS and South Africa; her message was deemed to be offensive by many observers. If you need to be able to compare this year to last year, then “resetting the numbers” as you say, may make sense if you have no other way to measure this. If you have software that can measure conversions for specific time periods, such as quarters, then you would not have to worry about such questions. With Google analytics you can do just that.

In February 2019, Glenn Greenwald wrote that a cybersecurity company New Knowledge, which is behind one of the Senate reports on Russian social media election interference, "was caught just six weeks ago engaging in a massive scam to create fictitious Russian troll accounts on Facebook and Twitter in order to claim that the Kremlin was working to defeat Democratic Senate nominee Doug Jones in Alabama. The New York Times, when exposing the scam, quoted a New Knowledge report that boasted of its fabrications: “We orchestrated an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the [Roy] Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet.'"[458][459]

With the new buyer it is important to note that your marketing efforts don’t end once a new lead comes into your system – what we call Top of the Funnel (TOFU) marketing.  Many companies do a good job at generating leads, but the problem is that most new leads are not ready to buy yet.  And if a sales rep does engage and the lead isn’t ready to talk with them, it reinforces the notion that marketing sourced leads are not great. So, why should Facebook bots matter to marketers? For starters, Messenger has 1.3 billion monthly active users. A great way to deliver high-value content to the correct prospects is through content syndication – a content sharing strategy that can be used to promote your whitepapers, articles, news releases, etc. on other websites for greater reach and engagement. Through content syndication, your content appears on third-party sites and newsletters. And because most content syndicators deliver leads directly to your inbox, it’s a great way to keep leads coming in the door. 

MQLs and SQLs provide bigger opportunities because they have been identified as leads who want to hear from you and learn more about your product. On average, SQL conversion rates are higher than MQL conversion rates because these are leads that have been identified as those who are interested in your product, and therefore, have a higher propensity to buy.
However, in your situation, you might have to segment your leads to get more meaningful insights. For example, if you know that vacation package 1 conversions are worth more to the business than vacation package 2 conversions, then you may want to create conversion goals in Google Analytics for these two goals and track those individually. Then of course, you would be looking at the advertising channels that are leading to the different types of conversions. This way you can decide which channels are producing the best quality leads.
