Let’s use one of my favorite Italian restaurant in Ekkamai, called La Tana. The marketing goal for this restaurant was to increase patronage during lunchtime (between 11-2pm). FB ads are perfect for restaurants. Because, let’s face it, everyone on Facebook likes to eat. When targeting your audience, you want to focus on your ideal or current customer(s).
The upper copy is a little ambiguous. To me, the connection between “taking care of your needs” and operating an ecommerce business isn’t immediately obvious, but overall, this is another great example of how Facebook’s visual ads can fit well in users’ News Feeds, leverage aspirational messaging to great effect, and how brand continuity across multiple ads can be very compelling and effective. Use contrasting color combinations: Higher contrast can help draw more attention to your ad. It’s not only the red and pink contributing to Nike’s ad success; the white font and background forms a perfect harmony of colors. A Science Direct study examining consumer preferences found that while a large majority of consumers prefer color patterns with similar hues, they favor palettes with a highly contrasting accent color. The copy above the image may seem minimal, but the ad very cleverly uses words like “discover” to create a sense of intrigue and hint at the potential sense of satisfaction users could experience by using the app. In addition, clearly stating that the Heal service operates on an on-demand basis aligns closely with the expectation of convenience that is rapidly becoming the norm for virtually all service-based businesses. Finally, the ad doesn’t just promise a house call by any doctor, but a great doctor, another subtle but compelling word choice that contributes to the overall success of the ad. Once again, Shopify demonstrates a keen understanding of its target audience, as well as how to leverage the visual nature of Facebook ads to create a clean, minimal, and compelling ad experience. This ad poses a question to prospective ecommerce store owners that they may have even asked themselves before, making this ad a very tempting proposition.
If this, then that: Nope, we’re not talking about the popular productivity tool, but you’re close. SumoMe’s ad text reads, “If you want viral growth you need this tool”. What happens is that people think, “Yes, I want viral growth,” and are immediately presented with SumoMe’s software as a solution. Lure in with the benefit: CoSchedule’s ad starts with a question — “Ready to get your marketing organized?” — that not only implies they will get your marketing organized, but that the only thing preventing that outcome is your hesitation. Colors matter: Do you remember the last ad that caught your attention in the Facebook news feed? Chances are that it was brightly colored and highly contrasted. Research has found that people make up their minds within 90 seconds of their initial interactions with either people or products. About 62‐90% of their assessment is based on colors alone. So yes, you should probably create more colorful Facebook ads if you haven’t done that already. 

When you A/B test your ads. The goal is to see which image, video, audience, font, color, ad copy, etc gets you the highest click through rate(CTR) or call to action(CTA). I typically perform A/B testing on two images at a time. Running too many variations can interfere with results. After running these ads simultaneously for 5 days, we learned that Ad B had 55 clicks to the website, while Ad A had only 5. Simplify, simplify, simplify: If your ads are too complicated to understand in a few seconds, people give up as quickly as they started reading in the first place. Sometimes it makes sense to leave some ideas unmentioned in the ad and explain everything in depth on your landing page. Start with low-threat offers: Every time you ask people to sign up for a subscription or buy something from you, you’re asking them to take a chance on you. Before you can ask people to spend money on your products, you need to earn their trust. Not all offers match with your target audience’s familiarity with your brand and the PPC channel temperature.

This ad is displayed on the right column of Facebook specifically for users who browse wine-related content online. When your ad caters to people who you know would be interested, modeling the product the way Winc does above can be a home run for your brand.
