Timely holidays are an excellent opportunity to launch a themed Facebook ad campaign, but so many businesses drop the ball when it comes to the ad creative of these campaigns. Either their ads are bland and forgettable, or their offer sucks, or the messaging of the ad is simply tone-deaf (think social media promotions that attempt to capitalize on celebrity deaths, for example). Free extra: The promise made in the Facebook ad’s headline says, “Free Paris Box with your Thailand Box!” If you were unsure about ordering the subscription before, now you’re almost convinced you’re getting a great bargain. When the online store 2BigFeet introduced free shipping for orders over $100, their conversions went up 50%. Free extras can be the right nudge to help people make the final decision to purchase the product.
This works as one of the best Facebook ads due to the strategy they use: content marketing. While most retailers create ads that direct customers to a product page, you can also direct your traffic to content or a blog post. These type of ads can be helpful at converting your customers. Not everyone is ready the first time they see a product. However, content let’s people learn something new. You can also retarget a blog reader and have a much lower ad cost. When I retargeted my blog readers, I had a 9x ROI when they bought my products. It was one of the cheapest and yet most profitable ads I’d ever created. Setting Up Facebook Conversion Tracking
This opens up its existing product lines to a vast new audience without having to launch any new products, and establishes Dollar Shave Club as a progressive, forward-thinking company that is aligned with changing societal values. Show the before and after: If your product needs to be unpacked or prepared in some way or another, it makes a lot of sense to let people see both of these phases. Showcasing a closed subscription box or a pile of Legos could potentially arise a lot less powerful feelings than displaying the final result – a delicious meal, or a Star Wars Lego spaceship.
To convince visitors to click your ad, you need an outstanding headline that highlights your unique value proposition. Including this in the ad headline immediately lets prospects know what’s different and special about your product or service, compared to competitors. This leaves them feeling like they don’t have a choice — they have to click your ad.
Your Facebook ad campaign’s success will largely depend on whom you’re targeting. That’s why you need to know about the different Facebook audiences available to you. There are Saved Audiences, Lookalike Audiences, Custom Audiences, and audiences created by people that have interacted with your page or content before. By leaving out all the specifics, Google’s ad sidesteps any technical-based client objections. Without mentioning any features, they’re basically saying, “It’s good and you don’t need to worry about the specifics.” How to Write Facebook Ads That Convert in 2019
Facebook has the same capability. An advertiser can advertise to a list of leads or customers by uploading a list of email addresses it already has into the Power Editor to make a custom audience. A good retargeting ad acknowledges that the brand knows you're already interested in its product. (Because, let's face it ... retargeting can be a little creepy.) If this, then that: Nope, we’re not talking about the popular productivity tool, but you’re close. SumoMe’s ad text reads, “If you want viral growth you need this tool”. What happens is that people think, “Yes, I want viral growth,” and are immediately presented with SumoMe’s software as a solution. First, mention something that you think potential target audiences might need. Then present your product as the best possible solution.
Here's an example of a boosted post from Bustle, who promoted one of its articles on Facebook. Paying to "boost" a post you already posted organically to your Facebook Business Page can greatly benefit content that has mass appeal -- versus a post that targets a specific segment of your audience. Bustle's choice of boosted post here falls into that first category.

This is the perfect Facebook ads example because it focuses on the impulse buy. When I saw this ad I originally thought it was an article and clicked on it. Something that pops in this ad is that certain words are written in ALL CAPS. Though some may not like all caps text, it really does capture attention. And truth is, if you’re presenting the right product or offer people will ignore the scammy appearance. The keywords that pop well in this ad is ‘CRAZY comfortable.’ Comfort is something many look for in a shoe so it’s an important keyword and crazy adds an emphasis on how comfortable it really is. And the emphasis on ‘elegant’ and ‘luxurious’ make you feel like you can be comfortable even when dressing up, which is rare, especially in women’s shoes. The picture is also interesting because it breaks down the components of the shoe. This is often found in ads for running shoes but not as common for women’s shoes like heels or in this case flats. Overall, the unique image and the all caps convinced me to stop scrolling and click.

The in-image copy makes sure the most important copy gets immediately seen + a CTA button hints people can click on the ad. Pipedrive’s SaaS Facebook ad also makes it easy to understand what product they’re selling – it’s made loud and clear in the ad image, main text, headline, and link description. (Look at it as an interesting use of repetitive yet efficient messaging.)
Although ads in the News Feed are likely to get higher engagement metrics due to its native advertising features, right column ads shouldn't be forgotten. We often see less expensive clicks and conversions when using these ads. In order for a right column ad to be successful, it needs to be relevant, have a value proposition, a good visual, and have a call-to-action.
Facebook supports multiple advertising types across Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network and Messenger. Each ad has two components: The format (what it looks like) and the placement (where it will be displayed). I usually don’t notice sidebar ads but this one caught my eye. I usually don’t recommend clothing ads without models but this one popped with the simple addition of the purple background. If you don’t have the budget to take model photos or if your manufacturer only supplies pictures without models, feel free to add a colored background to make the picture pop against a plain white background. It’s simple and easy to do but the contrast can help draw more eyes to your ad to entice the click through. Also when it comes to copy, be sure to double check that none of your ad copy gets cut off when writing it! Conversion Tracking with GTM (with Facebook Conversion Tracking as an example)
