You can track audience engagement with content on your Facebook Page through Facebook Insights. This allows you to measure Likes, reach (how many people saw your posts), and engagement (how many people liked, clicked, shared, or commented). You can also see which of your posts result in people unliking your Page—critical information about what is not working.
To use Facebook retargeting ad campaigns effectively, you will need to create great campaigns with ads that speak to your custom audience with a focus on driving traffic to your site, which then increases the audience you can retarget ads to. Therefore, be sure to create ads that match your custom audience’s interests. Remember: even the best audience won’t convert without great ads, so take the time to create ads that will attract your precise users.
Remember: Not every Facebook post shows up in the News Feed. When Facebook decides what to include, the algorithm looks specifically at engagement rates — not your total number of fans. Over time, the lack of likes and comments on your posts (due to unengaged or fake fans) compared to the number of Page likes you have could prevent your content from being seen. The average user will likely also question your credibility with such a discrepancy.

This photo ad by the The New York Times is driving traffic to a written article with an intriguing illustration. The drawing literally depicts the article's ideal audience -- millennials. For young readers who are even a little interested in health and fitness, this cartoon (along with the enticing headline) pokes just enough fun at them to get their attention.
To post on your Facebook Page, look for the white box below your cover photo that says “Write something …” and simply begin typing. When your update is ready to go (after a proofread, of course), hit “Share Now”. From this field, you can also add a photo or video, tag a product or location, run a poll, or schedule or backdate your post if you so choose.
Looking back at Facebook Flyers, it becomes a lot easier to see Zuckerberg’s long-term strategy for monetizing his rapidly growing site. In 2012, there was a great deal of speculation that Facebook would monetize solely to appease investors and shareholders when the company went public, but it’s obvious that this strategy was on the table from the outset.
Be consistent in naming URLs and use referral URLs to easily differentiate among content grouping. You can then build a separate custom audience inside of Facebook for each group and let them grow over time. When you’re ready to market to a given subset, you can amplify information or products to people based on the content that they’ve consumed from your site. Because they’ve already indicated some interest in your brand, they’ll be more receptive to your ads.
This page used to contain a list of the third-party data providers that Facebook worked with to offer their targeting segments directly on Facebook, and a description of that program. After we last updated our Data Policy (in April 2018), we terminated this program. Facebook no longer works with third-party data providers to offer their targeting segments directly on Facebook.
Advertise. Advertising on Facebook is unlike any advertising medium you’ve experienced before. Thanks to its advanced targeting capabilities and mass audience, you can reach as narrow or broad of an audience as you desire. Link to pages either inside Facebook or on a website of your own and include social actions, such as becoming a fan of a Page or RSVPing to a Facebook event. However, not every advertiser wants users to take the same action or shares the same campaign objective. This is why Facebook advertising calculates the maximum bid of an advertiser by determining the estimated cost-per-thousand impressions of an ad, or eCPM. This system allows Facebook advertisers to compete on equal footing, regardless of objective or ad format. For more on how Facebook applies this calculation to various ads and objectives, read this section of the Facebook for Business support documentation.

If a prospect has downloaded the white paper but hasn’t requested a demo, then you would want to advertise the demo. If they’ve seen the demo and haven’t signed up for a free trial, then that’s the message to send them next. Similar to establishing audiences based on the Time Lag report, create separate custom audiences and align the messaging with the way people have already interacted with your site and your brand. Facebook is a social network tool that allows you to find people you know based on where you live, work, or go to school, or who you keep in touch with through email. Then you can share all sorts of things with them, including videos, pictures, news stories, or just what you're doing today. You can also get updates on things that you like or find important, organize events, play games, and more.
“To convert users over the internet without a personal touch is very difficult. They have to trust you, and that takes time. Therefore, the approach and the converting angle has to be a contact form, where they could leave their name, email, and telephone number. Then, be sure to call them—going that extra mile will definitely make them feel more secure.”
Creating an open house event on your Facebook page gives your followers the ability to express interest in the open house and share event details with others. Click the “Events” button at the top of your post and a wizard will appear to walk you through the creation of an event. Be sure to include a date, time, address, and description. The event will show up on your Facebook page and you can invite people as well as advertise your events to build traffic.
Social media audiences expect agents to respond quickly—usually in less than two hours—to keep them interested. Turn on message notices in your Facebook page settings by clicking on “Settings” in the upper-right corner of your page, then “Notifications.” You can also set up auto-responders by clicking on “Messaging” and inputting responses to chat messages, setting up appointment notices, and creating follow-up information.
“People are naturally curious and want to see more than just the outside of their future home or one home you’re working with. Using the carousel ad format, you can highlight multiple features of the house that will drive more click-through traffic—or you can use it to show what homes you have available at the moment to drive more brand awareness.”

In addition to a homepage featuring news from friends, each user has a separate page that is all about themselves. For years Facebook called this the "profile" or "wall" area. But Facebook redesigned and renamed the profile/wall area and started calling it "Timeline" in 2011. You can reach your Timeline page by clicking your name at the upper right on every Facebook page. You can test different images, messages, placement, and audiences for your Facebook ads with split-testing. On the ad screen, click the “Create A/B Test” toggle button to turn on A/B testing, then select the ad elements you want to test. The wizard will walk you through setting up different ads based on your selections. These tests can give you insight into what works best to drive engagement from your audience. how to hide groups on facebook
Set out by creating as many custom audience buckets in Facebook as you can brainstorm and allow them to start populating. Not all of them will perform and some may take a long time to fill. You’ll have to make adjustments as you go along. Susan notes that the minimum number of people you can run a Facebook ad set to is 1000, so she often combines ad sets that are smaller than 1000 until she populates one that reaches the minimum. (Editor’s Note: The audio of this interview mis-quotes the minimum audience size as 200. This article reflects the correct minimum audience size.)
Facebook’s primary ad system plugs straight into the Facebook News Feed, the stream of information that serves as the primary interface for the social network. This system was created to deliver ads that could grab your attention as effectively as what internet companies call “organic content” — posts from your friends and family and other entities you are connected to on Facebook. In step #4, we told Facebook what message types we want our webhook to be notified about. If you followed my advice, then our endpoint will only receive “message” events, but we could also receive delivery confirmations, optins and postbacks (more on those later). I left some code in place for detecting those other types of messaging events, but I don’t actually handle them.
(Helpful note: For the bidding, unless you have an audience of over a few hundred thousand visitors per month, you should bid for clicks. This mean you will pay each time someone clicks on your ad, even if they are just clicking the like button and don’t actually visit your page. You will also want to choose your own bid price and have it be above the maximum Facebook suggests.
Whether you’re a software solution, a traveling service, a brick and mortar shop, or have an online store, there are many benefits of Facebook advertising. With the various kinds of Facebook ads out there and the multiple objectives to choose from, the benefits of Facebook ads can be very specific to your product or service or business goals; but there are some general Facebook advertising benefits. Below are four benefits of Facebook advertising that apply to businesses universally.
On the right sidebar of the homepage is Stories, Facebook's name for a different stream of information about your friends. Instead of status updates or posts, Stories shows your friends' published Stories, just like on Instagram and Snapchat. They're usually a few seconds of video or still photos. You can add media to your own stories, too, with the big Plus button. Using the Crop Tool in Lightroom to create a Facebook Banner size photo
Unlike paid search ads, where you only pay when someone clicks on your ads, Facebook uses something closer to a pay-for-impression model. Facebook’s algorithms do their best to get as many people to take your desired action (aka, convert) as possible with your budget, but if your ads don’t do a good job of getting people to act, you’ll end up paying more for each action.
If you follow the 80-20 rule, you’ll use 80 percent of your Facebook posts to inform, educate, and entertain, and the other 20 percent to promote your brand. Remember that using Facebook for business is all about building relationships, and self promotion is not a great way to do that. But if you provide enough value, your audience will be open to learning about your products and services in those 20 percent of posts that are more sales-focused.

An important note here: Even if you don’t plan to use Facebook ads right away, it’s a good idea to set yourself up with a Facebook pixel now. This will give you access to important data when you are ready to launch your first campaign. A Facebook pixel is a simple piece of code that you place on your website to track conversions, remarket to people who have already visited your website, and build targeted custom audiences for future ads. The pixel will start collecting data as soon as you place it on your site, so you’ll have remarketing and custom audience information ready when you start your first campaign.

Facebook retargeting ads display solely to an audience that has previously visited (and taken certain actions on) your website. To do this, advertisers install the Facebook Pixel, a free, short piece of code advertisers install on their side to track these visitors. It links your site visitors to your Facebook Ads Manager account, allowing you to create Facebook marketing campaigns that target your recent site visitors with Facebook ads.
Aside from how rapidly Facebook’s organic reach declined, the real surprise (or not) came from Facebook’s official position on the matter. When asked if the decision to gradually throttle the organic reach of organic content on Facebook was a financially motivated business decision, Facebook said no. In an official blog post, Facebook’s VP of Advertising Technology Brian Boland claimed that the decline in organic reach was caused by several factors, including an increase in the volume of content being published on Facebook to the refinement of the News Feed algorithm.

For example, a ski and bike company should group users by the main product types the business offers, such as skiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, and road cyclists. A customer who previously purchased a road bike would be a good candidate for a promotion on new clipless road bike pedals, whereas the customer who rented a mountain bike won’t likely be interested in road biking gear.

Facebook advertising allows you to drive even more people to your website, through clicks to website ads. These ads either direct people to your Facebook page which can lead them to your website, or lead them directly there. Clicks to website ads are meant to get people to a specific page on your website, such as a product page, landing page, blog post page, etc. You can get existing customers to learn about a new product, get new customers to better understand an existing product, showcase your expertise on a topic to build trust, and more.

We finished the four steps from Facebook’s welcome menu, but there are still a few things you can do to customize your Page. For example, every Facebook user has a vertical navigation bar to the left of their News Feed. By adding your Page as a shortcut here, you’ll always have easy access. Go to your News Feed and click on “Edit” next to “Shortcuts” in the left vertical navigation to make it easy to navigate to your Page in the future.
