Well, it appears that my comment on this was either deleted or never went through. But in summary, I stated that Facebook ads appear to be bogus to me. I have spent close to a $1,000 in ads in the past month and while yes it appears you get a lot of traffic, most of the traffic appears to be robotic or nonhuman. While some are humans not a one person has ever even added something to cart. I mean I have received thousands of clicks and not a one person even adds something to cart? Seems very strange and suspecious to me. I am beginning to think that those individuals claiming to get most of their sales from Facebook are either working for Facebook or getting some type of commission for advertising for them. I am very skeptical of what this article states.
Facebook does not currently let you automatically run A/B tests on your ads, as they spend more of your daily budget on the ads that are converting better. However, they do this very early so you are best off to let your ads run long enough to get a decent sample size before you make any decisions. My recommendation is at least 500 impressions, but even better if you can wait until 1,000 impressions before pausing the underperforming ads.
Like Google and others, Facebook runs an instant digital auction for each ad placement, considering bid prices from many advertisers. An advertiser might bid $2 to place an ad in a particular situation. Then Facebook weighs these bids against how relevant the ad is to that situation. If an ad is relevant, the advertiser need not bid as high to win the auction.
This page used to contain a list of the third-party data providers that Facebook worked with to offer their targeting segments directly on Facebook, and a description of that program. After we last updated our Data Policy (in April 2018), we terminated this program. Facebook no longer works with third-party data providers to offer their targeting segments directly on Facebook.
There's a lot of ad content on Facebook, and when Facebook users scroll through their News Feeds, that content start to blend together. Sometimes your best chance at sticking out on Facebook is by using subtle movements and details -- like Allbirds did, above. Let every other video on Facebook be quick and flashy, and yours will be a breath of fresh air to your audience.
Facebook is a business too, and it wants to ensure that its platform continues to deliver a positive experience to its users. If its ads are disruptive, distracting, or detract in any way from the Facebook experience, it risks losing favor in the eyes of its users. Facebook wants your ads to succeed just as much as you do, so it focuses its algorithms on creating the best matches for its ads and viewers.
When Instant Articles were first released, they were only available to a few select publishers. Now, any publisher can use them if they sign up at https://instantarticles.fb.com/. Facebook will walk you through submitting your first sample article and requesting approval from the Instant Articles team. Once you’re approved, you’ll be able to auto-publish in the new format.
To use Facebook retargeting ad campaigns effectively, you will need to create great campaigns with ads that speak to your custom audience with a focus on driving traffic to your site, which then increases the audience you can retarget ads to. Therefore, be sure to create ads that match your custom audience’s interests. Remember: even the best audience won’t convert without great ads, so take the time to create ads that will attract your precise users.
My recent personal experience with Facebook Ads was not a good one. I recently went through the procedure of paying for an ad campaign. I submitted my ad, and within 24 hours, I received a notification that the ad was approved and that the “Boost” was going to begin. Supposedly, my 31-day duration for the amount I paid was going to reach anywhere from approximately 300 to 700 people per day. When the Boost began, I received 1 immediate “like”, and then there were no more. Then, the next day, I received a notification that my ad was now “not valid” because there were supposedly too many words in it, but I could pay additional to boost my post again. The ad was simply an image of a business card. Anyway, I checked the analytics and found that my ad only reached 41 people on that first day, before it was stopped by Facebook. At that point, I canceled my ad, and hopefully I won’t continue to be charged on my daily budget. But the point is . . . if the ad was invalid, why would it have been approved in the first place? This is very much unsatisfactory to me and I would not recommend this marketing outlet to anyone thinking of advertising on Facebook.
Here’s the truth: 96% of visitors that land on your website are not ready to buy. They come to your site, wander around for a while, then leave. The worst part? Most of them probably forget about your website as soon as they close the tab. So, how do you remind your website visitors about your ecommerce store and keep in touch with them until they’re ready to become your customers? That’s right—you use Facebook retargeting ads.
If you follow the 80-20 rule, you’ll use 80 percent of your Facebook posts to inform, educate, and entertain, and the other 20 percent to promote your brand. Remember that using Facebook for business is all about building relationships, and self promotion is not a great way to do that. But if you provide enough value, your audience will be open to learning about your products and services in those 20 percent of posts that are more sales-focused.
If a prospect has downloaded the white paper but hasn’t requested a demo, then you would want to advertise the demo. If they’ve seen the demo and haven’t signed up for a free trial, then that’s the message to send them next. Similar to establishing audiences based on the Time Lag report, create separate custom audiences and align the messaging with the way people have already interacted with your site and your brand. Video Ads have a GIF or video as the centerpiece of the advertisement, and can be used to demonstrate a product or event. Video Ads help you form deeper connections with your audience by aligning your brand with a type of content online users are quickly consuming more of (nearly 80% of all data consumed on mobile devices will be in video form by 2021, according to a Facebook study). An important note here: Even if you don’t plan to use Facebook ads right away, it’s a good idea to set yourself up with a Facebook pixel now. This will give you access to important data when you are ready to launch your first campaign. A Facebook pixel is a simple piece of code that you place on your website to track conversions, remarket to people who have already visited your website, and build targeted custom audiences for future ads. The pixel will start collecting data as soon as you place it on your site, so you’ll have remarketing and custom audience information ready when you start your first campaign.
Another benefit of Facebook advertising is that it enables you to track the action people are taking on your site when they come through your ads. Learning which actions are being carried out the most can help you determine which ads are working best and what people are specifically looking for on your site. In terms of conversions, Facebook advertising benefits your business because it enables you to increase conversions, improve your website, and learn more about the audience you’re targeting.
Facebook limits the maximum amount of time that people will stay in a custom audience, based on website traffic, to 180 days. After this time period, those in the website custom audience will be removed unless they revisit the website. You can stay top-of-mind by simply creating a custom audience of people who visited your URL within the past few months and run remarketing ads before they’re removed by Facebook.
A computer sales and repair store is running a promotion on external hard drives and they want to use Facebook to advertise this sale. To avoid wasting ad spend, they target ads by user’s needs. Using the info from the Facebook Pixel, they create a custom audience of those who have recently visited the blog post on how to back up a computer. They then create an ad specific to those users, explaining the benefits of external hard drives and the current promotion.
We finished the four steps from Facebook’s welcome menu, but there are still a few things you can do to customize your Page. For example, every Facebook user has a vertical navigation bar to the left of their News Feed. By adding your Page as a shortcut here, you’ll always have easy access. Go to your News Feed and click on “Edit” next to “Shortcuts” in the left vertical navigation to make it easy to navigate to your Page in the future.
